The Peace Corps' Mission
To promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:
  • To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women
  • To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served
  • To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans



Health Volunteer Assignment - Ethiopia:

HIV/AIDS Prevention and Community Health  -  To improve individual and family health in Ethiopia through the reduction of infectious diseases and development of healthy behaviors.
  • Goal 1: HIV Prevention, Care and Support  -  Community members will adopt behaviors to decrease the spread and mitigate the harmful effects of HIV.
  • Goal 2: Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH)  -  Mothers and caregivers will demonstrate the knowledge and skills that contribute to improved maternal, neonatal, and child health outcomes.
  • Goal 3: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)  -  Community members will adopt healthy behaviors to reduce infectious diseases and improve environmental health.
